It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, but after doing a round of checks on keyword rankings for a few other sites, I noticed that the PageRank values looked to be different that what I had seen previously. Looking into this
a little further I established that for a large majority of websites the Google PageRank had changed.
I wanted to double check that this wasn’t just some problem with the rank tracker software I was using, so I double checked a few of the sites using the SEOBook Firefox plugin and the PageRank values were the same – yep, Google had released a PageRank update for 2011!
A quick search of the internet showed that many SEO’s had already jumped on the fact and a plethora of articles were already written on the news.
Now the key thing to remember is that just because your websites PageRank has increased doesn’t necessarily mean that your keyword rankings have too. It definitely is along term process to have a website that ranks well for keywords that you are targeting in all search engines and to ultimately bring traffic and customers to you.
Do the basics right and the rest will follow -
On-Page SEO:
- High quality content
- Keyword density
- Keyword proximity
Off-Page SEO:
- High quality backlinks
- Article Marketing
It’s the basic steps performed regularly that yield the best results, so forget employing a SEO consultant and get stuck into it yourself. Because the only way you are going to know whether what the SEO company is doing is right, is if you have a go at it first.
