Using PLR content on your blogUsing PLR Content On Your Blog

After talking to many aspiring bloggers the one thing they keep going on about is how difficult it can be to keep churning out quality content.

One option is to hire a freelance writer but I’ve found that those that charge $5 per article just are not good enough (well to my standards anyway), the readability and flow are usually sub-par.

The average price of $8 gets you a passable article but if you want to add 10 articles that’s $80 upfront that you have to pay out. Many bloggers in the early stages cannot afford to pay out such fees as we usually don’t have any revenue being generated.

There is an alternative called PLR articles.

PLR stands for Private Label Rights and it basically allows you to purchase a package of articles and use them for whatever purpose you want. You can put them on your blog, turn them in to an autoresponder series, compile them in to a report (such as for release in a PDF ebook), use them to syndicate to other sites – there are hundreds of uses.

Advantages of using PLR content on your blog

There is a cost advantage too because a set of 10 articles can cost as little as $3.95 and for this you will get well researched, well written content – and I’m sure we can all afford to spend $4 on our blogs!

There are many places you can go to buy PLR articles, by just doing a search on Google you will be presented with thousands of sites that offer PLR content.

Disadvantages of using PLR content on your blog

Of course, there are some disadvantages to using PLR articles. The reason they are so cheap is because many people are buying the same content and it’s well documented that Google doesn’t like people having the same content on their site as someone else and will often suppress websites it thinks are duplicates. This is no good because as a blogger we are relying on the search engines to drive us free traffic so simply putting up PLR articles ‘as is’ might not be the best plan – our goal is high-quality unique content.

You could spend some time to re-write the articles in to your own words, all the information is there you just have to spend some time re-writing it.

Tips to using PLR content on your blog

  • PLR Content usually sells in batches – so look at buying PLR content that only releases articles in batches of 10 or 20.
  • Try to be one of the first to purchase any new releases that fit your niche – more importantly, be the first to publish the content on the web.
  • Be sure to read through the article and change anything that stands out to you in order to make it more easily readable.
  • If you are not in the first few to purchase the PLR content (or publish it for that matter), make sure that you re-write the article – you don’t want to publish duplicate content.

So to recap, consider using PLR articles if you are having trouble writing the content yourself and are looking for a little low-cost inspiration.

Hi Cemil,

It is really hard to continually come up with great content week after week. I think the best thing about using PLR content on your blog is that you can re-work the material. That way it won’t look the same as everyone else has on their blog.

Never used original plr artilce in our blog. Rewrite it at least 60% of the original article to avoide duplicate content that will be penalty by Google.

To your success,

Thanks Cemil. I’d never heard of PLR before. Where’s a good place to seek PLR content? I would definitely rewrite it to ensure it fits the tone of your website. I dare say no article can fit a website 100% without some tweaking.

I agree with Jazz, I think PLR is definitely a great basis to start your own article. Even if you only re-write it a bit if you really like it makes it unique. But it can save a lot of research :)
