Capturing Email Addresses
When you get a visitor come to your blog, you are hoping that they will click one of your affiliate links embedded within your informative short articles and buy relevant products from the website you sent them to – a.k.a. Affiliate Marketing.
But what if there was a way to monetize a single visitor over and over again?
One visitor – a lifetime of cash
This is entirely possible if you are able to capture the persons email address because you can contact them over and over offering more helpful advice but also exposing them to your affiliate links each time you contact them. This is a form of basic Email Marketing.
Capturing Email Addresses isn’t half as hard as it sounds. You can choose a professional mailing company like Aweber which is recommended. They will give you a piece of code that you can add to your blog (at the top of your page is preferable) where visitors can enter their name and email address, they will be added to your list and eligible to be contacted at a later date.
In order to maximize the number of people who give you their email address you need to entice them with something that is worthy of the exchange. This is usually in the form of a short report that gives them inside information, tips or tricks.
For example, if you had a blog about Disney World you can write a guide on how to avoid the long queues and give it a snappy title like “6 Things You Must Know To Avoid The Queues In Disney Land”. This creates a level of curiosity amongst visitors and encourages them to fill out your email signup form.
If you are using an autoresponder service like Aweber then you can even set up a series of emails which will automatically be emailed to the person and arrives directly in their inbox.
A little word about the content of the emails that you send out. If someone gives you their email address, treat it with respect. Hitting their inbox every day with nothing but blatant advertising not only gives you a bad reputation but could cause problems with your mail provider as people hit the spam button quicker than a New York minute.
Ensure that the emails you send out are genuinely useful and will help the person in some way. Include affiliate links within the body of the content and even link back to articles on your blog – this makes sure they keep getting exposed to your ads without seeming like it is forced.
Hopefully you are starting to see the potential of Capturing Email Addresses and growing your email list for the small niche you have chosen. You can multiply your income per visitor many, many times simply because you now have direct access to their inbox.
Just remember the golden rule though…don’t spam them!

Hi Cemil,
Placing the signup form in a prominent position and having a carrot are so important. It’s also a good idea to nudging your readers to sign up every so often – all the while demonstrating how your sign up can add value. Allaying their fears about privacy and unsubscribing at anytime also works wonders at risk removal.
Hi Cemil,
Reading your information is most helpful to me. Thank you so much. I didn’t know before that Aweber could be used for email capture, or how important email capture is to an online business. I thought this tool is useful only during a sale transaction process. Now I know better.
I look forward to your next post.
Hi Cemil – thanks for explaining Aweber. Regarding installing it, is there a plugin for it or is it added as code in the widget panel?? Jan L
Hi Jan,
You can use the AWeber Integration Plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/aweber-integration/). This can also be directly searched for and installed through your WordPress Dashboard.
