Reputation Management Tools – Manage Your Reputation Online

in Online Business

In many situations throughout our lives, our reputation becomes one of the major factors that are focused on. For a large percentage of people, honesty and integrity is paramount.

Reputation Management Tools

So then how do you ensure that your good name and reputation carries the information that only you choose?

Reputation Management is essentially the process of publishing and tracking information about a individual persons or company. These days this is mostly a online medium due to the relentless growth of the Internet and especially Social Media.

Online Reputation Management Tools are useful for both publishing positive publicity and also managing any negative publicity. Public perception is very easily manipulated, so having your name and face highlighted in a good light is very important.

Reputation Management Tools help because they push the bad publicity back in Google results. Instead of the showing up on page one of Google results, negative press, negative comments in forums and complaints are moved much further down in the Google results. This can only really work if you target the right tools that will rank well in Google.

Reputation Management Tools

There are many Reputation Management Tools available, however there are only a few that I personally use and recommend. Let’s face it, we are all busy and have less and less time everyday. The last thing I want to be spending my free time on is using multiple tools to analyze and review who said what. For that reason I recommend:

  • LinkedIn – LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site that allows you to build an online presence and maintain a list of professional contacts in your profile.
  • Naymz – Naymz is a professional social networking platform that allows users to network with other professionals and manage their online reputation.
  • Personal Website – Creating a personal website, or even better a web log (blog) will allow you to publish content that you would like people to view, rather than any negative websites. The more frequently you post content to the site, the more higher the site will appear in the search ranking.
  • Google Alerts – Google Alerts is a content monitoring service that automatically notifies users when new content has been indexed by Google that matches a specific keyword phrase is identified by the Google Alerts service. Notifications are sent either by email, as a web feed or displayed on the users iGoogle page.

Your reputation is your personal brand and when your brand is damaged it can have a dramatic impact on your life. Managing your reputation online using Reputation Management Tools is easy and takes minimal time to complete.

Hi Cemil,

Another reputation management tool that looks pretty good is http://www.socialmention.com/. I’m playing around with it at the moment, but is seems to be similar to Google alerts, and monitors social media, blogs etc.

Seems to be potentially useful not only for business owners, but also anyone with a blog who wants to know what things are being said.

Cheers,
Tom

Hi Cemil,
I have found Google Alerts to be an excellent tool which has many uses.
You can monitor your brand names, your targeted keywords, your own name, etc.
I also like the fact that it emails you with the results on a weekly basis, if you wish to set it up that way.

Hi Cemil,

Google alerts is great for picking up mentions of yourself, your small business or your industry. It’s like having a super organised secretary who knows all the gossip. Being able to use this tool to react to what’s being said gives you a level of message control you wouldn’t otherwise have.

Hi Cemil,

Thanks for the info. I was not aware of some of these tools and I also didn’t know that Google ranks bad reputation further out.

Regards, Eileen.
