While leaving a comment on a blog may send some levels of traffic to your own blog by interested readers, it may not necessarily send any link juice. Blogs that are “dofollow” will allow Search Engines to see a backlink pointing from a website to your blog.
Depending on the authority and rank of the website sending a backlink this can increase your own blogs ranking.
I mentioned previously about leaving a worthy comment. What I consider a worthy comment is something that:
- Is not something simply like “great site” or “great post”.
- Actually shows that you read the article and have some feedback, extra points or a differing view.
Nobody likes comment spam, so don’t leave your own when commenting.
Commenting on blogs is a quick and easy way to promote your own blog. There is little effort involved, however unless the proper comment etiquette is used, you will most likely never see your comment approved.
