Keyword Density

in SEO

When your are writing a article you set out to explain to the reader some storyKeyword Density about something that you (hopefully) feel passionate about. When it comes to articles posted on the internet, many people utilize simple Search Engine Optimization or SEO techniques to also make the articles easier to be read by Search Engines. One SEO area that many try to focus on is that of Keyword Density.

Keyword density refers to how many times a particular keyword appears in a article. So for example, if you’ve got article with a 2% Keyword Density, the word would appear 2 times per 100 words.

From a search engines point-of-view, having relevant keywords through-out your content is a good thing as it brings “weight” to your chosen Keyword. However, one must keep mind not to over-do the keywords as this can be seen as keyword stuffing and can result in you being penalized by the search engines. Plus, most people can tell when you are just trying to insert as many words as possible as the flow and sense of the article begin to suffer.

It can sometimes be difficult to find the right Keyword Density. You ultimately need to try and achieve a perfect balance between search engine friendliness and reader satisfaction by way of article readability.

Many SEO Experts recommend a Keyword Density of 1.5% – 2%, while others say 5%. What you should always remember while writing an article is who the reader is going to be – a human. As humans will be reading your article, write your content for a human not a search engine.

Keyword Density is just one component of creating content that should be observed, however it is not the major component nor should it dictate and lessen the quality of your content.
